NSW Parliamentary Committee Publishes Short-Term Holiday Letting Inquiry Report
The NSW Legislative Assembly Committee on Environment and Planning has published its report following the Inquiry into the Adequacy of the Regulation of Short Term Holiday Letting.
The Committee received submissions from 212 people and organisations including HLO Central Coast; with 48 people appearing as witnesses including the HLO Central Coast President and Vice President.
The report contains regulation recommendations to the NSW Government, including:

Planning laws to be amended to regulate and enable Short Term Holiday Letting

Allowing home letting and sharing of a principal place of residence as exempt development

Allowing empty house letting as exempt and complying development
-
The Government to investigate Short Term Holiday Letting industry impacts on traditional accommodation providers

The NSW Holiday and Short Term Rental Code of Conduct to be strengthened
-
Regulation to include a compliance system
-
Government to provide regulation guidance and education for Council's and Communities
-
Strata laws to be amended with a review of regulation effectiveness to be conducted
